You definitely need a fast charger for your iPhone X

It’s great that the new iPhones come with fast charging, but Apple has decided not to include a fast charging brick in the box. Customers that are looking to fast charge their iPhones will have to buy a new $50 charger that supports fast charging from Apple.

The standard charger that is included in the box (4.85V/0.95A) will fully charge the iPhone X in about 3.5 hours (the same goes for the iPhone 8 Plus). You can charge the iPhone using an iPad charger (24W), which will charge your phone 30 minutes to an hour faster. On the other hand, Apple’s $50 USB-C 29W charger will be able to charge the iPhone X from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes!

At a first glance, many might be hesitant to consider buying the fast charger, but in my opinion, that should be the second thing you invest in (after a protective case), if you’re buying the new iPhone X. Let’s be honest, who wants to wait 3.5 hours for a phone to fully charge?

Bixby button can now be completely disabled!

Samsung’s own digital assistant, Bixby, can now be fully disabled! Well no… I don’t believe Samsung will do that anytime soon. I use Bixby continuously for certain tasks and uses, I really proved to be helpful. But when it comes to the general opinion, it seems like Bixby is pretty hated. Many apps have been developed that focus on remapping the Bixby button, so that it could be used to launch something else, such as the camera or Google Assistant, but Samsung was quick at launching updates that disable those apps. Eventually, the company succumbed and rolled out an update that allowed users to disable the Bixby button. Even then the button could still be used (by holding it down) to summon Bixby. It seems like this isn’t the case anymore, with the latest Bixby update, Samsung has put an end to that, and now users have the options to disable the button entirely.

3 Things you should know before buying your first camera!

I had a conversation recently with a couple of people about cameras and their specifications. The most question I received was “what is a good “budget” low light camera?”, and the answer to that question was never really simply. Many things go into defining what a good camera is and it’s never a matter of megapixels only. So, I thought of writing the following blog post to help people understand more about what to look out for when buying a camera! But do keep in mind that I am no professional photographer, but only a guy that took some time to read about camera specifications and what they mean. Google event’s recap: A bunch of new pixels

Last week Google announced some great devices and others that just confused me, at a really boring event. Google, keep them products coming, but also keep the event short next time. We still love you. To summarize last week’s event in two words it would be “Artificial Intelligence”. A direction all tech giants have been taking and focusing on. This event, Google expanded the uses of its Google Assistant and just added it to a bunch of new devices. Continue reading “Google event’s recap: A bunch of new pixels”

Mobile AI processor by Huawei

Source: Huawei

At IFA 2017, Huawei announced the launch of the Kirin 970, its new SoC (System on a Chip) with AI capabilities, which the company is promoting as a mobile AI computing platform. The Kirin 970 is powered by an 8-core CPU and a 12-core GPU. It features a dedicated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), which when compared to the 970 CPU, should deliver 25 times the performance with 50 times greater efficiency. Which means that the Kirin 970 can perform the same AI computing tasks faster and with less power. According to the company, in an image recognition test benchmark, the Kirin 970 can process 2000 images per minute, which is faster than any other chip on the market.

LG V30 – specs and features

Source: LG USA Mobile

Among the smartphones launched at the beginning of 2017, the LG G6 was one of my favorites, and now, the company is back again with yet another great device. The LG V30 has just been announced two days ago and this device is an absolute beauty, inside and out. The least to say is that this phone has a headphone jack! The company is probably planning to steal some spotlight with this device, which is most probably going to be difficult to do, due to the Note 8, iPhone 8, Mate 10, and Pixel 2. Q4 of 2017 is just filled with highly anticipated smartphones. Now, let’s have a look at what the phone has to offer.
