Google Assistant disappeared? This is how to get it back!

Google assistant began to roll out to android phones in the Middle East just recently, but not without problems. One problem that is common and that many people are encountering is that Google Assistant seemed to disappear shortly after being activated. Users would long press the home button launching Google Now instead of Google Assistant. Suddenly Google Assistant would disappear off the device without a trace. This is due to a change in the language settings in Google Now and probably the system language. The only way to get it back is to launch Google Now and go to settings, from there you should change the search language to “English”. You should also make sure that the system language is set to “English” as well. A couple of minutes after that and Google Assistant should miraculously reappear.

Bixby has been officially announced!

Today Samsung officially announced their new intelligence interface, Bixby, that will be on all new Samsung devices. The rumors about the launch of Bixby in the upcoming Galaxy S8 surfaced back when Samsung filed for the “Bixby” trademark at the beginning of this year.

In a press release, the company announced this new AI in the S8, as well as provide a bit of description on what this digital assistant can do (press release).  Bixby’s main competitor won’t be Siri or Cortana, but rather Google’s own Google Assistant that has been now made available to most Android devices.

Will Samsung’s Bixby be any different from its failed S Voice? In theory, Bixby is indeed very different, offering more and doing more. But this all can’t be confirmed until the Galaxy S8 is released.

Smart Contact Lenses

We have seen smart rings, belts, and most recently lenses. There are some companies who have already patented different types of smart contact lenses, all having different uses. With the developments we have witnessed over the past couple of years our smartphones became more computer-like replacing many activities you usually need a laptop for, your watches can now track your activities and even make calls. This makes the development of more “smart” devices less surprising, but we welcome all. So, what kind of smart contact lenses are being made, and by who?

Samsung’s Secure Folder App

Samsung has just released the Nougat update for S7 edge devices in Lebanon. Now, I’m not new to the update as I didn’t want to wait for the OTA update to arrive, and so I went ahead and flashed my S7 Edge with the UK version of the firmware (I don’t recommend it unless you know all the risks of flashing a firmware). With the update’s welcomed arrival, Grace UX, apps, and many new features arrive. An app that just made available on the S7 and S7 Edge is Samsung’s Secure Folder App (downloaded from the Galaxy App Store). Continue reading “Samsung’s Secure Folder App”
