Galaxy S8 and Note 8 users can now disable the Bixby button.

Samsung announced Bixby right before its launch of the Galaxy S8, but the digital assistant didn’t become available to users until recently. From the reviews, I have mostly seen online and from what I have heard from friends, I must say that Bixby is the most misunderstood digital assistant out there.  Continue reading “Galaxy S8 and Note 8 users can now disable the Bixby button.”

Google Assistant and Siri: An AI death match

During the first day of Google IO, Google announced that it’s launching the Google Assistant on iOS.

The assistant is available on iOS (USA only for now) as an application that will be able to perform certain tasks, as it does on Android, but with some exceptions to certain OS functions. That means you will be able to make calls, send messages, and play songs, but not set any alarms.

Users have to open the Google Assistant app to activate it, as the home button can not be remapped. Users can also add a widget to make the launching of the Google Assistant faster and easier.

Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus vs. S7 and S7 Edge – is it worth the upgrade?

Looking back at 2016, the S7 Edge was hands down one of the best smartphones, with one of the best designs, which it still is to this date. Things have greatly changed with the launch of the S8 and S8 Plus now. With the introduction of the two new devices, Samsung officially came back swinging after their Note 7 demise, with what might be the best design for 2017. Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+

If you’re really into smartphones, then you were probably on the edge of your seat waiting for the Galaxy S8 unpacked event. Samsung today unveiled their newest Galaxy S8 flagships with them “marking the new era” for smartphone design. This statement might indicate that they are “showing off”, but it is spot on. Samsung’s newest approach to smartphone design is, to say the least, stunning.

Bixby has been officially announced!

Today Samsung officially announced their new intelligence interface, Bixby, that will be on all new Samsung devices. The rumors about the launch of Bixby in the upcoming Galaxy S8 surfaced back when Samsung filed for the “Bixby” trademark at the beginning of this year.

In a press release, the company announced this new AI in the S8, as well as provided a bit of description on what this digital assistant can do (press release).  Bixby’s main competitor won’t be Siri or Cortana, but rather Google’s own Google Assistant that has been now made available to most android devices.

Will Samsung’s Bixby be any different from its failed S Voice? In theory, Bixby is indeed very different, offering more and doing more. But this all can’t be confirmed until the Galaxy S8 is released.
