Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus – specs and features

Samsung’s 2018 Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus have been announced a month ago, and I got to say that I’m in love with Samsung’s offerings from budget phones to mid-range phones. In this post, I’ll focus on the new phones’ specifications and features.

Display and Design

Say goodbye to big ugly bezels! The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus come equipped with Samsung’s gorgeous infinity display, that was introduced last year. The screen is a Full HD AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 display ratio. The phone is made of the same design we’ve grown used to from Samsung, curved glass on the back and front, with a metal frame. The phones come in four different colors, which include black, orchid grey, gold, and blue.

Camera

The Galaxy A8 and A8 Plus feature Samsung’s first dual front cameras. The primary camera setup is a single camera with a wide aperture of f/1.7. The front dual camera setup is a 16 MP and an 8 MP f/1.9 cameras that should result in great selfies, even in low light conditions.

The front dual cameras come with the Live Focus feature that we saw earlier in the Note 8, that allows users to take pictures while applying a bokeh effect to the background. Unlike the Note 8, the feature on the Galaxy A8s is used to take “Portrait Selfies”.

Both devices support “Always on Display”, come with IP68 water and dust resistance, and are the first A series smartphones to support Samsung’s Gear VR. The price range of the Galaxy A8s 2018 is supposedly between $450 and $650.
