Back in 2015, Valve launched the Steam Link, a streaming box that allows users to stream their PC steam games directly to their television. For $50, users would get a device that they plug into the TV’s HDMI port, connect a controller in, setup the internet connection, and start streaming steam games to.
Last month, Samsung announced launching the Steam Link app to its 2016 and 2017 Smart TVs, including its newly launched QLED TV line. The steam link application completely replaces the need for the steam link box, as the application allows users to stream their games directly to their Samsung Smart TV. The application was first made available as a free beta version in the U.S market and is now available in 55 countries. By doing this, Samsung is the first TV manufacturer to have the steam link application available on its Smart TVs.
