On the 10th of May, Samsung in Lebanon held a launch event for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus at OCEIL Dbayeh. At the event, Samsung showcased the two new flagships, along with their accessories, and the new 2017 Gear 360. Now with the being available, here’s what I think about it. As a first look, the 2017 Gear 360 looks really nice and really seems like it would fun to use.
The Gear 360 has a dual 8.4 MegaPixel cameras with 2.2 aperture, that shoots 4k videos. In comparison with the 2016 Gear 360, the new edition is much better in design, but not much of an upgrade when it comes to resolution (4096×2048 at 24 fps vs. 3840×1920 at 30 fps). In terms of still pictures, last year’s edition definitely takes better pictures, thanks to the dual 15 MP cameras and 2.0 aperture.
The best upgrade that the 2017 model witnessed was the introduction of live broadcasting right from the Gear itself. The new Gear 360 allows sharing to social media (such as Facebook and YouTube) and Samsung’s Gear VR as long as the Gear is connected to a compatible smartphone or PC. Just like the Gear S3, the new Gear 360 is said to eventually receive iOS support.
