Samsung has been preparing to bring their A-game for their unpacked event next Sunday. At MWC, the company showed a teaser video for the Galaxy S8 phone, which and according to SamMobile, was the most viewed corporate brand video for the week between March 6 and March 12.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+have been leaking left and right for some time now, from the specs to colors, and some important features. Tech journalist Evan Blass has been at the head of these leaks, where he started off by leaking the Galaxy Tab S3 and went on to leak a lot of information about the S8 and S8+. This is almost everything that has been leaked about the two phones that are set to be unveiled on the 29th of this month.
The leaks confirmed many features such as the removal of the home button and shifting the fingerprint reader to the back. The Galaxy S8+ specifications were also leaked ahead of the MWC last month. Of course, the specifications leaked also came from the same man, Evan Blass.
Galaxy S8+ Specifications:
- 4G LTE Capable
- 6.2′ Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Display
- 12 MP Dual Pixel Main Camera
- 8 MP Front Facing Camera
- IP68 Dust and Water-resistant
- Iris Scanner
- Samsung Knox Security
- 64 GB Storage Capacity with microSD card support
- 4GM Ram
- Wireless Charging
- Android 7.0 Operating System
- AKG tuned Earphones
The 6.2′ display size is a significant increase over that of the S7 edge, but that is mainly due to Samsung’s “bezel-less” design of their new device. Something that can be clearly seen in the leaked image below. The phone’s dimensions are actually similar to that of the S7 Edge, but the bezel-less design (now called Infinity Display) helped in providing a much larger screen in that same chassis.
The same happened with the Galaxy S8 which is reported to have a display of 5.8′. With more media consumption happening on mobile devices, I say why not? The bigger the display the better. According to the same source (Evan Blass), the phone will be coming in three different colors which are Black Sky, Orchid Grey, and Arctic Silver.
There are other leaks that unveiled about the two devices which indicated that the phones will be able to record videos at 1000 fps. Yes, that is super slow-motion videos. Why? Well, ’cause why not! The report also indicated the phone will have an upgraded 8 MP front facing the camera with autofocus. Also, the phone will reportedly feature a face scanner, which comes in the shape of a 3.7 MP RGB sensor.
With all these leaks and Bixby (if it lived up to the expectations) of course, the phone seems like a winner for 2017. But as a consumer, I really hope there are some features that Samsung is yet to unveil on the 29th.
